Wingate UniversityClient ObjectivesWingate University has been working with Flying Bridge for many years. For this project it was simply time to refresh and enhance the university's web presence. The old homepage was overrun with news articles and some departments and programs were overwhelming the news of others. Flying Bridge SolutionsGiven the scale of their website, Flying Bridge recommended we start at the top levels of the website and work our way down over time and through many phases. Flying Bridge redesigned and did content layout for the primary areas of the website, and enabled Wingate to manage and create content for the rest of the site through a series of page layout templates and styles. This workflow kept cost to a minimum and allowed the most flexibility for Wingate and Flying Bridge. To solve the issue of the deluge of news being displayed on the home page, FBT developed an XML-driven news/events/sports interface in Flash which filtered, condensed, and made great use of the limited real estate. Visitors are able to quickly select and browse news, events, and sports. If the Flash display isn't touched by the visitor, it automatically cycles through the news items. Elsewhere on the website, FBT created a clickable campus map which was then augmented with descriptions, photos, 360° panoramas, and Flash videos of key campus locations. The videos do not require any plugin other than Flash, which allows for a seamless experience, wider audience, and full control over the design & branding of the video player. For a good example of all three features, click on campus location 1 (in the center of the map) Post Project ResultsWe continue to work with Wingate and have completed many phases since the initial redesign. The website is an evolving marketing asset for the university. |
